La nueva Galería de la Reina en el Palacio de Buckingham fue inaugurada por
la Reyna el 22 de Mayo de 2002.
La exhibición inaugural de la nueva Galería es una celebración
espectacular de los gustos
individuales de los monarcas así como de otros miembros de la familia real
quienes han conformado una de las más grandes colecciones de arte en el mundo.
 La Galería de la Reina en el Palacio de Buckingham es un espacio permanente
dedicado a las exhibiciones cambiantes de artículos de la Colección Real, la
colección es muy amplia incluye arte y tesoros. Construido hace cuarenta años en
el frente oriente del Palacio de Buckingham fuera de las ruinas bomba-dañadas de
la capilla privada anterior, la galería ha sido recientemente remodelada y se
volvió a abrir al público por La Reina el 21 de mayo de 2002 y está ahora
abierto al público diariamente, por lo regular del 30 de marzo al 31 octubre, en
horario de 11:00 a 16:00 horas siendo la última admisión a la 15:15 p.m.
Mezclando lo famoso con lo inesperado. La selección de 450 trabajos sobresalientes configuran la Colección Real, de
las nueve residencias reales en cinco siglos. la exhibición incluye pinturas,
dibujos y acuarelas, muebles, relojes, esculturas y cerámicas, plata y oro,
armas y armaduras, joyería y miniaturas, libros y manuscritos.
La colección real puede entenderse mejor como una colección de colecciones
individuales. Las pinturas en exhibición, reflejan el gusto de los diferentes
monarcas y su entusiasmo y preferencias por ciertos artistas, temas y materias.
